Great Aunt Nora
January 26, 2010

My Aunt Nora with my daughters Clare and Ema
My Aunt Nora passed away at the age of 94 earlier this month in New York. We always spent time with her on our trips back east and this picture was made on our last visit to see her on Thanksgiving in 2008. She was truly a great aunt to us all and we will miss visiting her and her telephone calls, birthday and holiday cards which she never forgot to send. Family Picture Mother and Sons and Bunnies
January 21, 2010

Anna and her sons Nico, right, and Ali, left with their pet bunnies the black bunny is Peter and the other is Jessie.
I had the pleasure of photographing Ana and her sons recently. The weather has been so pleasant this el nino winter that we could shoot outside just before sunset in front of their house. Bunnies seem to be harder to photograph than dogs which I have more experience shooting. Photographs on this website by Seattle photographer Daniel Sheehan © 2010. All Rights Reserved. Panoramic Family Portrait Photography
January 4, 2010
This is the panoramic version of the large group family photograph I made on Christmas Ev. They are the VonDerlinn family reunited for the holidays at the family home on Cougar Mountain. It has a lot more air on both sides, but has lost some of the clouds in the sky. The sun was partly hidden behind some clouds in this version and I believe I shot the digital version from a higher vantage because more of the mountains are visible in the background. This one will look good when printed 12 x 36″ long.

Large Group Family Portrait
January 2, 2010
On Christmas Eve I had an assignment to make a large group family portrait of the VonDerlinn family on Cougar Mountain. They are a big family and most of them have moved out of the old family homestead but return for holidays like Christmas from places like Texas and California. The old house site near the top of the mountain and has a great view out over Puget Sound and the Olympics beyond so I posed them on the patio with the view and sky behind them.

Newborn bella baby Harper at six days of age. She is so amazing to see. If you have been following this blog, a couple of weeks ago Molly and April came into the studio on a Sunday for a baby belly picture session. Two days later a very bella baby daughter, Harper McAllister Sather was born. Talk about good timing. Here are our first but not our last newborn baby photographs of her.

Family Portrait of A Winemaker
December 15, 2009

Tim Narby and family in the winery of Nota Bene Cellars, Seattle.
Tim Narby is the owner and winemaker at Nota Bene Cellars making some of the finest wine to come out of the best vineyards of Eastern Washington.
Just a note about this picture. I usually do not go into technical talk but I have been working with an old Hassleblad and black and white film and I really like the look of film. It has been a while since I worked with a film camera every day and I am getting the hang of it again. Last time I worked with the Hasselblad was more than 15 years ago. I gave them up and moved on to a Mamiya RZ 67 when I became tired of the square format. Lately I have been missing it so I got myself a new old camera, the lens was made in 1975 and the body in 1980. The lens is a beautiful 110 f/2 Planar. and it looks tack sharp even after all these years. I will be using it for as many kinds of assignments as I see fit from now on. It is back to the future with film.
